From day 2 pupils will receive daily Maths and English lessons and a P.S.H.E. check in. These will be provided through either zoom, Class Dojo or paper based activity packs if requested by parents. These lessons will be sequential and follow the same curriculum as if the pupil was in school.
The expectation is that the work set for pupils will take between 3/4 hours per day. It is recommended that the work be broken down into chunks with regular breaks. This will be discussed between each teacher and parent as it is personalised to each child.
Parents will be given an initial invitation to access Class Dojo. There is then a code sent out which will take you directly to your child’s class page. Click on your child’s icon and you can see the work set on dojo for that day. Parents can message teachers via this.
Daily text/phone call reminders will be sent to parents to advise of the timetable for the day e.g. times of a “live” zoom lesson.
Parents will be sent an individual invite to zoom meetings. Your email address will not be shared with other parents.
If paper based activity packs for learning have been requested, these will be delivered by school transport.
School staff will do regular checks via phone call to ensure that pupils are able to access remote education. If your child does not have a device we will provide them with one (if we have sufficient available at the time) and support them with gaining access to the internet.
If you have any concerns regarding this, please do not hesitate to contact your child’s class immediately.
In Maths, children will have sequential lessons which have the same content as if they are in school. These will be delivered through zoom, uploaded onto Class Dojo (or other agreed platform) or paper copies sent home if preferred. There will be live teacher input on 4 days every week and independent work on day 5. Where appropriate children will write directly into their maths books. They will also have access to Education City, T.T. Rockstar’s and Top Marks. As well as the daily maths lesson, children will be given a times table activity that is personalised to them, and a daily mental maths activity.
In English, children will have sequential lessons which have the same content as if they are in school. These will be delivered through zoom, uploaded onto Class Dojo (or other agreed platform) or paper copies sent home if preferred. There will be live teacher input on 4 days every week and independent work on day 5. Where appropriate children will write directly in their English books. There will be a daily writing session for 4 days of the week. On day 5 the children will have comprehension to complete. There will also be 2 grammar lessons per week. Each child will have weekly spellings. All children will have a daily reading session. If appropriate, handwriting activities will also be given. If children do phonics, these lessons will also be included. Other areas such as development of fine motor skills, speaking and listening, may be added if appropriate. Children will have access to Education City, Oxford Owls, Phonics Play and other home learning resources as identified by their class teacher.
There will be a well-being check in with each child each day and a weekly P.S.H.E. lesson.
Generally as part of the offer there will be some non-core activities, which could be project based, to enhance home learning. These will not be delivered as live lessons but will be uploaded to the online platform or sent home as project packs, and can be completed at the child’s own pace at home.
If you have any queries at all about home learning please do not hesitate to call school on 0161 921 2650 or contact the class teacher via class dojo.
